Rock'n'Roll and Whisky

Mick writes:

Here's something that had been festering at the back of my mind for a while - a rocked up re-write of the old 'Cigareetes, Whisky and Wild, Wild Women'. I recorded it about a year ago and it's been kicking around at the back of the metaphorical tape cupboard, waiting for it's time to unleash itself on the unsuspecting world..(OK too many metaphors).

The lyrics are a little tongue in cheek but not too far from reality - slide guitar on my old Rosetti with the Elmore James pickup - general insanity probably inherited from my distant relative Richard Goodluck Green, whoever he was. Sounds like a character - his mum was Mary Totty, also intriguing. This rock'n'roll bug must have come from somewhere..

Anyway, I think it's fun - hope you enjoy it. Yee-Haw!

Mick Clarke - Rock'n'Roll and Whisky Rock'n'Roll and Whisky and a Wild Wild Woman
They'll drive you to ruin they'll send you insane
Rock'n'Roll and Whisky and a Wild Wild Woman
Get you up on your feet and get you rockin' again

Now some kind of people you know how it goes
They raise up on their heels and they look down their nose
Say the way you drink liquor how do you survive
Well it's only the whisky that keeps me alive

Rock'n'Roll and Whisky and a Wild Wild Woman
They'll drive you to ruin they'll send you insane
Rock'n'Roll and Whisky and a Wild Wild Woman
Get you up on your feet and get you rockin' again

I've known a good woman for many a year
She'll be the last man standing and knock back a beer
Well she says what she means and a little bit more
If you don't like the truth gonna show you the door

Rock'n'Roll and Whisky and a Wild Wild Woman
They'll drive you to ruin they'll send you insane
Rock'n'Roll and Whisky and a Wild Wild Woman
Get you up on your feet and get you rockin' again

If you don't like the blues you've a hole in your soul
If you don't like to rock then you're gonna grow old
Well the blues and the country got together an 'all
And the blues had a baby they called rock'n'roll

Rock'n'Roll and Whisky and a Wild Wild Woman
They'll drive you to ruin they'll send you insane
Rock'n'Roll and Whisky and a Wild Wild Woman
Get you up on your feet and get you rockin' again

Rock'n'Roll and Whisky and a Wild Wild Woman
They'll drive you to ruin they'll send you insane
Rock'n'Roll and Whisky and a Wild Wild Woman
Get you up on your feet and get you rockin' again

Get you up on your feet get you you rockin' again
