Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo - The Collection

Mick writes:
Here's a collection of some of the rockier stuff that I've done over the years, plus a brand new track - my cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'Cover Me'.
Some of the tracks have been remastered for the digital age, others left as they were. I think it all sounds pretty good if you're in the mood for rock'n'roll - maybe for that Summer road trip?
1. Graveyard Shift
From the album 'Solid Ground' with Chris Sharley on drums and Eddie Masters on bass. Recorded at The Moat studio in London. Powerful track which was quite popular when it was released in India, getting to No.1 on the National Alternative Chart.
2. Cover Me
Bruce Springsteen's great song. I always liked this and thought that it was really more blues than rock - I think my version works well.
3. Talking with the Blues
From the 'No Compromise' album with Chris Sharley on the drums, Michael Bramwell on keyboards and the late Mick Phillips on bass. Recorded at Elephant Studio, London, by Nick Robbins.
Always popular over the years - still sounding good to me.
4. Dry Road Blues
A favourite track from the 'Digging Down' album.
5. Can't Stop Lovin'
Elmore James' great song - my rocked up three piece version from the 'Telegram' album.
6. Bear With Me
From the 'Tell the Truth' album. Mike Hirsh on drums, Mick Phillips on bass and Lou Martin on keyboards. Recorded at Elephant Studio by Nick Robbins. I remember that we had a lot of trouble getting this track to work - we tried extra piano lines, various bass patterns, different types of percussion. Finally I just put a whole new rhythm guitar on it and bang there it was. Rocking little track.
7. Steady Road
Rocking track from the 'Crazy Blues' album. Praying at the church of Chuck and Bo.
8. Fine and Dandy
This was a single release from last year. Did well and is still on rotation on BB King's Bluesville, Sirius XM.
9.New Star over Texas
Always popular instrumental from the 'Tell The Truth' album. Originally dedicated to SRV, and owes a little to his 'Riviera Paradise'.
10. Can't Help Myself
Rocking track from the 'Stepping Out' album.
11. Settle On It
A favourite bit of heavy boogie from the Relentless Boogie album - recently remastered.
12. Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo
I released this Rick Derringer / Johnny Winter classic as a single some years ago and for some reason took it down again. Listening to it recently I thought..yes, it rocks. So after a bit of a scrub up here it is. Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo!!
