Just Dropped In

Mick writes:

Here's a great song by American song writer Mickey Newberry. It was originally a hit for Kenny Rogers and The First Edition, and was featured, I believe, in the Coen Brothers' cult movie 'the Big Lebowski'.

I suppose the lyrics are all about drugs, but I think they can apply to any mental condition really.. 'pushed my soul in a deep dark hole and then I crawled in'.. yes, sounds familiar.

Since its release in January 2024 it's done well... over a quarter of a million streams since its release in January on the US platform Pandora. Thanks to all those who are streaming and following.

I think it's a powerful piece of music. Mastered in mono for extra glue.

Mick Clarke - Just Dropped In I woke up this mornin' with the sundown shinin' in
I found my mind in a brown paper bag within
I tripped on a cloud and fell eight miles high
Tore my mind on a jagged sky
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in

I pushed my soul in a deep dark hole and then I followed it in
I watched myself crawlin' out as I was a-crawlin' in
I got so tight that I couldn't unwind
Saw so much I broke my mind
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in

Someone painted 'april fool' in big black letters on a dead end sign
I had my foot on the gas as I left the road and blew out my mind
Eight miles outta Memphis and I got no spare
Eight miles straight up downtown somewhere
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in
I said I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in
