Mick writes:

This song stuck in my head although I could never remember what it was. It was actually a New Orleans classic written and recorded by Chris Kenner and Allen Toussaint - a No. 2 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1961.

But here in the UK I knew it from versions by the Dave Clarke Five and Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers.

I actually got to work with Cliff at a later date - one of the greatest British soul and blues singers in my opinion. It was an interesting time - he even introduced me to Gerry Marsden of Gerry and the Pacemakers! Hey, they can't take that away from me.

I never met Dave Clarke although they were one of the very first live bands I ever saw - very powerful at the time - the Deep Purple of their day. And later I bought my guitar strings from the bass player, who opened a shop in Camberwell, South London.

Anyway, here's my version of 'I Like It Like That' - rockin' music for your Christmas party. I've released it in stereo although I actually have a mono version which is very good - might release that some time also.

Mick Clarke - I Like It Like That Come on
Come on
Come on - let me show you where it's at
The name of the place is I like it like that

They got a little place across the track
The name of the place is I like it like that
Well you can do anything that you wanna do
And we gonna rock away all our blues
Come on
Come on
Come on - let me show you where it's at
The name of the place is I like it like that

last time I was there man I lost my shoes
some guy up there he was shoutin' the blues
The people was screamin' yellin' out for more
And all they were sayin' was, "Go man go"
Come on
Come on
Come on - let me show you where it's at
The name of the place is I like it like that

Come on
Come on
Come on - let me show you where it's at
The name of the place is I like it like that

Come on - let me show you where it's at
The name of the place is I like it like that
