Mick writes:
I formed the band Killing Floor with singer Bill Thorndycraft back in 1968 - we had a wild four years, touring all around Europe and playing with many of the big names of the time - backing up Freddie King on two UK tours and meeting up with Howlin' Wolf, Otis Spann and even 'Big Boy' Arthur Crudup along the way. The two albums produced, 'Killing Floor' and 'Out of Uranus' have both become cult items, and 'Uranus' is due for release again soon.
The band reformed in the early 2000s and we made two more albums and toured festival dates across Europe, ending at the great Sweden Rock Festival in 2012.
Bill and I have kept in touch and released regular recordings as 'Clarke Thorndycraft', including a version of the Stones' 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' which proved to be popular.
So here's our 2025 version of the Bobby Fuller Four classic, written by Cricket Sonny Curtis. Bill rips out the vocal as only he can and I'm filling in some slide on the Danelectro.
We produced the track here at Fabulous Rockfold Studio, deep in the Surrey Badlands, and Bill commissioned DC Brown to make the video, dedicating it to his football team Crystal Palace, and to our friend and colleague in Killing Floor, the late 'Mac' McDonald.
The online release is under the names of 'Mick Clarke and Bill Thorndycraft, Killing Floor' and it is also available on 'made to order' 12" vinyl or CD, backed with our version of John Lee Hooker's 'Dimples' and Bill's original 'Alcoholic'.
The black eye was real.. I don't like to ask. I Fought The Law.
