Mick writes:

Here's a song from the great Percy Mayfield. I think I first heard it by the equally great 'God Father of British Blues' Alexis Korner, and I've incorporated the riff from his version here.

Kind of a depressing lyric but I've lightened it up a bit from the original - I hope you enjoy the music.

Mick Clarke - River's Invitation well I went to the river
and the river spoke to me
I said I'm tired and I'm lonely
won't someone help me be
river said if you can't find no peace of mind
come and make your home with me

yeah I been across the country
and I played in every town
well I was lookin for an answer
no answer could be found
now you know which i'm headin'
yeah man I'm goin' down..

well I dont want to leave here
with my heart all filled with pain
mm I been searchin' for a long time
but the heartache still remain
still one day we be together
be together once again
