" Unapologetic lesson in rock history makes the best contender for the blues album of 2013" (Let It Rock)
Mick writes: After trying out my home studio for the first time with 'the Rambunctious Blues Experiment' I began to think of other ways I could use the facility to record.
It occurred to me that I should be able to manufacture a decent drum track myself, using a combination of recorded sounds and a bit of real drumming. I reasoned that if I could play a rhythm on a guitar then I could do the same on a drum. Naive or what?!
So in due course my new (used) Ludwig snare arrived, much to the bemusement of my wife. I thought I'd make it easy on myself and start off using brushes, and indeed that worked well for the first few albums.
I already had my cheap bass guitar, Linda's Roland 500 keyboard and a few mikes and guitars etc. So off I went. I decided to stick with the Danelectro, which seemed like a good recording guitar.
I was very nervous about releasing the result. After all, sessions are what happens when different musicians work together, right? Is a one man effort going to cut it?
Well, reviews were good, radio play was good and sales were good. Phew. You can judge for yourself. Ramdango was a made up word but also means a bit of a party in Scottish slang. Have fun.
